The Jedi Who Became the Enemy
Born Alek on Quelii, he came of age during a time of galactic war — a Jedi Knight trained by the Order, nicknamed 'Squint' by those who knew him, and driven by a conviction his Masters rarely shared. When the Mandalorians began their campaign of conquest, he and his closest friend Revan refused to stand aside, defying the Council to lead Republic forces into the fight.
Victory at Malachor V should have been the end of it. Instead, Alek and Revan pursued the retreating Mandalorians into the Unknown Regions — and there, beneath the influence of an ancient Sith Emperor, both fell to the dark side. They returned not as Jedi but as Sith Lords, and the war they launched against the Republic became known as the Jedi Civil War.
Alek became Malak — Dark Lord of the Sith, ruler of a Sith Empire waging the Jedi Civil War across the galaxy. The two designs in the Knights of the Old Republic section trace that final chapter: the Xenopixel V3 build for those who want to carry his story, the RGB-X Duelling Lightsaber for those who want to fight with it.
He fell as far as any Jedi could — and met his end at the hands of the friend he betrayed.

Revan and Bastila Shan were bound to Malak by the same war — one the friend and master he betrayed, the other the Jedi he captured and turned to his cause.
