The Jedi Who Chose to Come Back
Born Caleb Dume, he was a Jedi Padawan who had barely begun to find his footing when Order 66 tore the galaxy apart. His Master, Depa Billaba, bought him those last few seconds on Kaller — and he ran. What followed was years in the margins: a false name, a blaster instead of a lightsaber, and a life built around not being found.
Meeting Hera Syndulla during the Gorse Conflict changed the direction of everything. He joined her rebel cell, the Spectres, as her second-in-command — and when the Force-sensitive orphan Ezra Bridger came aboard, Kanan found himself doing the one thing he had spent years avoiding: being a Jedi. An unfinished Padawan teaching an untrained boy, pulling the lightsaber back out because someone needed him to.
Blinded by Maul on Malachor, he found his way back to the Force through a different kind of sight — and kept fighting. He defeated the Grand Inquisitor, faced Thrawn, and died saving Hera and the crew of the Ghost, just before Lothal was freed. Both designs on this page belong to those Rebels years.
He never finished his training — and yet he finished the fight.
