The General Who Let Dathomir Win
Before Dathomir, Taron Malicos was exactly the kind of Jedi the Republic needed in wartime — a Master who could read a battlefield, steady his troops under fire, and translate the Force into military decisions that saved lives. His reputation wasn't built in the Temple; it was built in the field, leading clone battalions through the grind of the Clone Wars as a Jedi General others trusted to bring them home.
Order 66 changed everything — but not in the way it did for most survivors. Malicos fought off his own clone troopers and escaped, only for his starfighter to crash on Dathomir. Captured by the Nightbrothers, surrounded by a planet saturated with dark side energy, he didn't find a way to resist it. He stopped trying. That surrender — quiet, deliberate, total — is the moment that defines him.
What followed was a controlled ascent through the dark. Malicos killed his way to the top of the Nightbrother clan, bent Merrin's trust through deliberate deception, and built himself a kingdom on Dathomir's terms. By the time Cal Kestis arrived in 14 BBY — the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — Malicos had already become something the Jedi Order had no category for.
Dathomir didn't break Malicos — he opened the door himself.
